![]() ![]() ![]() In general: Look subjects up under the principal identifying noun: hence, "Parties, political," not "Political Parties"; look nations up under the word in their official name which is used as their common name: hence, "Drinomar, Lendosan Praetoriate of," not "Lendosan Praetoriate of Drinomar." For nations: 1. The listed name of a nation itself is a link to an almanac-type entry providing tabular or summary information about all major aspects of that nation. When the subject listing of a nation is not a link, it means that no such summary of information is available about it. 2.The link to a nation's principal Web page is to be found under "Web Page" at the very bottom of the national entry. 3. Kinds of information which nearly all nations of the Vexillium provide on their Web sites are listed in a standard list of subheadings under the principal national topic entry. If one of these subheadings is not underlined, that means that that particular kind of information is not offered in a clearly identifiable way on the national Web site. 4. Maps of each nation or region will be found on a link listed as a sub-topic under a principal entry. Collections of maps maintained by particular nations will be found as links under the "Atlas" which constitutes the 24th and final volume of the Encyclopedia (found currently at the very bottom of this page). 4. Other kinds of information found only on some national Web sites is listed under entries for the particular topics themselves, often with sub-entries for individual nations. (NB: since almost all countries show flags on their main Web page, "Flags" does normally not constitute a separate entry under each nation. Flag pages may be found, listed by nation, under the entry "Flags," together with a link to the independent website, "Flags of the Vexillium." 5. Defunct nations and the dependencies of presently existing nations are linked from their principal entry to a single source of information, although other particular information about their most important aspects may be found under other topic entries. Dependencies such as Protectorates which already have considerably developed autonomy or are slated for eventual independence have the same kind of sub-divided entry as independent nations. Remember: Now (and very likely forever more) The Encyclopedia Vexilliana is a "work in progress." It can contain only information supplied to it either indirectly, by being put on Web pages to which it provides links, or directly, by being sent other kinds of information which it can either print directly next to the topic listing or put into a custom-made link to a page on its own Web server. The present structure of the Encyclopedia's Web pages is temporary and will change to reflect the fullness and complexity of its content as that continues to grow. Jerg Viktor Simontz, Editor-in-Chief, The Encyclopedia Vexilliana Bedavale University Press, Altland
Note: Whenever text appearing directly on the pages of the Encyclopedia was not authored primarily by the Editor-in-Chief, the primary author is identified by initials placed in parenthesis at the end of the entry. This attribution is intended primarily as a recognition of the source of the information, and does not imply use of the primary author's exact words; these attributed entires may be heavily edited. It may be presumed that the author of any text appearing in a link is the work of the proprietor of the Web site to which the key-word is linked.

in the Sea of Eulos in the southern part of the Old Continent
which forms a distinct semi-autonomous region of the Republic
of Armatirion. The explorers from ancient Gronk who came to the
island many many years ago heard this name, but spelled it Mosquito.
Linguists agree that this has since become the name of the insect
that roams the island. The same insects also made the gronkian
explorers leave in a hurry, but the native people of the island
have through the generations developed ways to avoid the insects'
terror. Through the application of plant extracts and strange
magic devices, they seem to be of no interest to the mosquitoes.
The native people of Moo-Scee-Tow have their own devoluted government,
and will soon have a flag of their own. (K. R. E.) The large island Ptica is jointly governed by the Union of Guwimith and Dependencies and the Republic of Armatirion. Following talks between Guwimith and Armatirion, the official foundation of Ptica Park took place on the 22nd of October 297, making Ptica Park the first and largest natural reserve in the world. The whole island is demilitarised, the small scientific settlements are virtually non-polluting, and all transport to and from the island is by sail boats and solar powered electrogliders. On the neighbouring islands a new regime, that of Neonesia arose only a short time after the foundation of Ptica. The Neonesian regime thereafter tried to disturb the peaceful existance of Ptica as a Guwimith/Armatirion territory, to little awail. Claims of Neonesian settlements on Ptica have been dismissed by extensive exploration of the island. As Lendian historians have concluded, the Great Plague (which killed a majority of the world's population) originated from Ptica. The Plague left a unique fauna and flora behind on the island, and this wildlife is what the establishment of the park preserves and protects. (K. R. E.) Quarries Queta.
