We, George II Victor, by the Grace of Grace King of Altland, Prince of Jergendol and the Havnkyst, Duke of Estgorth, Montemar, and Orlandia, etc.,etc., to All Whom These Presents may Reach: Be it known that it is our royal intention to summon to their usual places of assembly in our capital of Midlburgh all those qualified by hereditary right, designation, or election to sit in the three Houses of our Great Council, and that we do ordain herewith that they enter into official session on Sunday, the Twentieth Day of June next, commencing with a common assembly in the Grete Saal of the Jergenpalast for the purpose of attending to our address to them from the throne.
In pursuance whereof we have commanded our loyal Chancellors to prepare bills of recommendations for enactment of laws dealing with their several areas of responsibility, and do hereby solicit petitions for the inclusion of further such bills from those summoned under law or immemorial custom by this writ.
In witness whereto we have hereunto affixed our hand and seal, this Thirtieth Day of May in the Year of the Vexillium Two Hundred and Ninety-Nine.
Dear Altlandic people: We are writing to you from our place of exile to reassure you all that we are making careful preparations to return to our kingdom after two long years in which it has been usurped by foreign powers which did not respect our peacable and civilized traditions, and which attempted by force to bring to us all what they pretended were the benefits of modernity. In so doing, they showed us the true face of modernity, which preaches toleration but does not practice it. Now the hour has come for us once again to assert ourselves and our true national character, to put the abuses and innovations of the painful period of Neonesian usurpation behind us, and to restore our institutions and our way of life to its former purity and glory. In this hour of maximum need and maximum opportunity, we stand ready, as we always have, to guide and govern the nation according to the sacred traditions of our ancestors. As soon as we are assured that the political situation has been stabilized in the wake of the illegitimate Neonesian regime's total collapse, and as soon as the international community has been satisfied that it is indeed the will of the Altlandic people that the legitimate government be restored through the plebiscite soon to be held under the auspices of the United Nations of the Vexillium, it is our plan to return to our capital city of Midlburgh and to our beloved Jergenspalas, and to resume our duties as sovereign and head of the government.
We and all Altlandic people of good will owe to our beloved subject, Alexander C. Alexicot, a great debt of boundless gratitude and honor. Although he is still at his secret headquarters somewhere in the remote reaches of our land, we have been in almost constant communication with him during the last several weeks leading up to the recent Declaration issued by the Unified Front; and in recognition of his signal services to the Throne and to the People, I have offered him a title of nobility, a large grant of land, and the hitherto vacant office of Arch-Chancellor. All of these he has declined. He has, however, consented to accept from me the rank of Knight Commander of the Most Noble Order of Jerg Augst, the highest honor which our kingdom bestows on its most devoted servants. Far more important, however, is that Sir Alexander, as we may now call him, will always have a place of highest honor in our heart and in the hearts of all his fellow-countrymen.
In a spirit of peace and reconciliation after our nation's long ordeal, we have prepared several decrees which deal with the restoration of normal national life upon my return, among them one which grants an amnesty to those who found themselves without any practical alternative but to collaborate in minor ways with the usurpers. To those who collaborated in major ways with the usurpring power, willingly and with unpardonable malice, and who therefore have committed the capital crimes of treason and lèse majesté, we are preparing to offer a period of grace beginning today and extending to the day of our return (which shall, we earnestly pray, come speedily), during which they may freely leave the country which they have so grievously dishonored and betrayed, and thenceforth dwell safely in any other country on the face of the Vexillium which consents to have them as its guests. Thereafter, however, a sentence of perpetual banishment shall be laid upon them, and if they remain in or return to our land, thereby darkening it with their traitorous presence, they must expect the most rigorous execution of justice upon them.
It is with great longing that we desire to return and once again live among you, our people, fulfilling, as if right, the duties of kingship which our venerable ancestors from Jerg Augst forward have bequeath to us. In closing, we feel we can do no better than to quote the famous words spoken by another king as he returned victorious to his realm from exile:
"What's more to do/ Which would be newly planted with the time --/ As calling hom our exiled friends abroad/ That fled the snares of watchful tyranny/ ... and what needful else/ That calls upon us, by the grace of Grace/ We will perform in measure, time, and place./ So thanks to all, and to each one ..." whom we invite to greet us when we resume our throne.
Given this First Day of May, in this Year, 299 by our hand and under our royal privy seal,
George II Victor
By Grace of Grace, King of Altland, Prince of Jergendol and the Havnkyst, Duke of Estgorth, Montemar, and Orlandia.
