The Sovereign is represented within the Crown Colony by his Governor General, presently Sir Roger Beauchamps, KOD, who must consent to all the enactments of the Folksmoot if they are to become law. If such consent is withheld, the Folksmoot may, through the Colony's Prime Minister, appeal directly to the King, who may overrule his Governor General, but only at the cost of replacing him with another.

The Legislative branch of the Crown Colony's government is the unicameral Folksmoot, popularly referred to simply as "The Moot," an elected assembly meeting annually during July and August. Each of the Colony's twelve counties elects a number of representatives to the Moot based on population, yhe current apportionment bing one member for each 5,000 of registered population. When in session, the members of Moot are released from their usual employment, much as the members of a jury are when called up for duty, and are compensated by the treasury of the Colony at the same rate as their usual wages or, for the self-employed, at one sixth of their previous year's income.

Just before the adjournment of the Moot at the end of August, the delegations of each Quarter select six of their number to form a standing Executive Council, out of which the Prime Minister and his government are chosen. For the past several years, the Prime minister has been Sir Wilfrid Bargaren, KOD, pictured below.

Presently, the rest of the government consists of six ministries, each of which has numerous subdivisions for the administration of their various areas of competence. They are:

The Ministry of Finance and Economics

The Ministry of the Interior

The Ministry of Foreign Representation and Trade

The Ministry of Culture and Education

The Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture

The Ministry of Justice

As a Crown Colony, there are certain functions of government which are not within its competence and are thus performed only by the government of the mother country. These include: foreign policy in the broader sense, defense (when not engaged in hostilities, the militia-like Home Defense Force comes under the administration of the Ministry of the Interior), currency, and postage.

The Judiciary of the Colony is structured analogously to that of Altland, with the Quarters corresponding to the Provinces of the mother country and the entire Colony functioning for purposes of the Judiciary as an Altlandic Quadrant. The court of final appeal, therefore, is His Majesty's High Court, in Midlburgh. Decisions of this Court are revocable only through personal and direct appeal to the sovereign, who seldom revokes his High Court's decision. The sovereign, as chief magistrate, also has the powers of Pardon and Mitigation, which may be exercised on his behalf by the Governor General.
