The Prince of Afrazure

 HH Prince Youssef

His Highness Prince Youssef Kamal Ibrahim bin Mounir Afrazali, Heir Presumptive to the Throne of Afrazure, was born on 11 May 281 in the nothern city of Elephanou to the then-Emperor of the Commerical Empire of Africablue, Mounir II, and his fourth wife, Zia Mambousani. He remained with his mother until the age of five, when he was summoned to Medhinou by his father and installed in the imperial palace in a suite of his own, staffed by a complement of 12 servants and a tutor. The young prince seldom saw his father and was disfavored and ill-treated by his older brothers, all but one of whom practiced the religion of Moùn.

The young prince showed himself to be an exceptionally talented and eager pupil and an amiable companion, and gained soon the devotion and complete loyalty of his household. As the political situation in the Commericial Empire deteriorated, the senior members of his entourage decided that his father Mounir could no longer guarantee the boy's safety, and so they removed him without notice from his suite in the royal palace to the relative security of the Phenixian embassy. But Phenixia itself was soon undergoing a political crisis, and, with the advent of the Altlandic Expeditionary Force in July 299, the Prince was entrusted to its guardianship.

A new phase of life began for Prince Youssef when he was brough to Altland at the behest of King George II Victor and enrolled for the PPE school of the Univeristy of Komdn. Several months later his father named him his heir and successor in the instrument of abdication which the Altlandic government had persuaded him to execute in return for criminal immunity for any violations of law or internationally recognized norms of human rights committed by him or under his authority during his reign. The Altlandic government, for its part, allowed Youssef the style and privileges of a prince, but refused to promise that he would be allowed, at his majority, to succeed to his father's position as an imperial head of state.

Meanwhile, Prince Youssef completed his undergradute studies, taking a First in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, and immediately began reading for a Doctor Juris Civilis degree, with which it is anticipated he will be finished at the end of Hilary Term, 2006. With the death of his father on 14 July 305, Youssef succeeded to the formal headship of the House of Afrazali and was granted the title of "Prince of Afrazure" by His Altlandic Majesty who, having been installed as the 26th Obango of the northern river tribes and recognized as Soveriegn of Afrazure by the mandate of the UNV, is in a position to dipose of all titles and honors within the Protectorate.
