Maps: During most of its existence, Afrazure remained unmapped. The only map of the country ever published by the erstwhile Commercial Empire of Africablue (Figure 1) was, shall we say, short on detail. The first map issued by the UNV after the approval of the Altlandic Protectorate (Figure 2) showed the shape of the country and its relation to its neighbors was also lacking in internal detail and did not remain accurate for very long.

A map published a short time later (Figure 3) is more accurate and informative, but reflects the volatile political situation in and among the nations of Melania which brought about a rapid succession of regimes that asserted multiple and conflicting claims to various territories with ever-shifting borders. The unfortunate and inappropriately named "Yellow Free State" which arose in the former territory of Www (pronounced "woo") gained the extreme western province of the old Africablue, renamed it Yellow Melania, and quickly lost it in its own general collapse as a political entity. Yellow Melania then became Allacoa, which did not take long to decide that its destiny was to "liberate" Afranzure Altlandique, thus touching off the most serious international crisis of Altland's recent history. War was averted only through the good offices of the governments of Whitlam and Westria.

Meanwhile, the govenment of the Protectorate was busy launching the first attempt at a comprehensive mapping of the interior of the country, some of whose fruits can be seen in the large made delineating Administrative District at the foot of this page. This effort continues, and other maps based on this one are now in process of publication.
